Sebastiaan van Eck

Sebastiaan van Eck has worked as a tuttiellist with the radio orchestras since 1981. First with the Broadcasting Orchestra, then with the Radio Symphony Orchestra and from 2005 in the Radio Chamber Philharmonic. In August 2013, he joined the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sebastiaan was born in Haarlem in 1955 and studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory. He continued his studies at the Robert Schumann Institut Düsseldorf. Here he received his diploma in 1981. His teachers were Alberto Lysy, Johannes Goritzki and Dmitri Ferschtmann.

Sebastiaan van Eck previously played with Camarata Lysy and the Deutsche Kammer Akademie. Today, in addition to his work with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, he is also part of the Franciscus Quartet and the Amsterdam Cello Quartet.
He has a dozen chamber music CDs of his own quartets to his credit. He also collaborated as a cellist on two CDs by the Gemini Ensemble with singer Philippe Elan.
In his spare time, Sebastiaan van Eck is involved in astronomy and ornithology. He also enjoys organizing chamber music concerts.
