José Kamminga

The alto José Kamminga studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Wout Oosterkamp and Sasja Hunnego. She completed this study in 2002. She also took master classes with Barbara Hannigan and David Wilson Johnson, among others. José specializes in contemporary music. She has been associated with the Groot Omroepkoor since 2006.

In addition, José Kamminga gives recitals with pianist Henry Kelder. She is also associated with the Vocal Lab as a soloist. She has performed modern operas and musical theater, including the role of Kundry in Boudewijn Tarenskeen's opera Parsifal. Both solo and ensemble, José has sung in Spain, France, Germany, England and Denmark, among others.

She soloed in a concert with the Groot Omroepkoor in the Saturday Matinee at the Concertgebouw. For a performance of Tehellim in De Doelen in Rotterdam in 2008, José collaborated with the composer Steve Reich. In 2009 she performed with the Netherlands Wind Ensemble at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
