Sergey Khachatryan in Brahms
Sergey Khachatryan plays Brahms' Violin Concerto, full of bravura and great feelings. Is he the perfect musician?", Le temps wondered. He comes close, was the answer. With his overwhelming interpretation - virtuoso without technical excess, fluent but also strictly articulated. The Armenian violinist was praised during a recent American tour for 'his' Brahms. It is passionate, concentrated and tender at the same time. Today Khachatryan is soloist with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
Diepenbrock
Conductor Cristian M?celaru conducts not only Brahms' Violin Concerto but also the last work by Alphons Diepenbrock. This Dutch composer regularly wrote incidental music. Composing the music for Sophocles' Elektra got off to a slow start. Diepenbrock, a classical scholar himself, was not happy with the newly translated text. But his love for Sophocles won out. Wind instruments play a leading role in this stately music full of drama. Today you will hear the symphonic suite Eduard Reeser composed in 1952.
