Easter concert with Bruckner and Pärt

Te Deum
In this Easter concert, the Great Broadcasting Choir sings two of the most beautiful choral works with the theme "We Praise Thee, O God. This is the meaning of Te Deum, the biblical hymn that inspired so many composers. Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko will lead the Groot Omroepkoor and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra today in compositions on this hymn by Anton Bruckner and Arvo Pärt.

Bruckner and Pärt
Anton Bruckner was an extremely devout Catholic, standing behind every word he expressed with Te Deum. This choral work packed a meditative and, above all, jubilant punch. When Mahler once conducted it, he noted the following scoring: 'angels' tongues, God seekers, tormented hearts and souls purified in fire!' The Groot Omroepkoor also sings Arvo Pärt's Te Deum. In this mystical and thoughtful work, the melodies unfold at a slow pace.
