Liza Ferschtman plays Willem Pijper
Programme
- Maurice Ravel Le tombeau de Couperin
- Willem Pijper Violin Concerto
- Ralph Vaughan Williams The lark ascending
- Edward Elgar Enigma Variations
In this concert, Maurice Ravel looks back to the sophisticated world of the Sun King's French Baroque, but also commemorates comrades fallen in war. Liza Ferschtman performs as advocate of the Violin Concerto of Willem Pijper, Holland's most important composer between the two World Wars. With Ralph Vaughan Williams, we hear the summer lark take off magically, and Edward Elgar holds up a beautiful romantic riddle to listeners.
