James Judd conducts Franck and Saint-Saëns
Programme
- Prokofiev Overture on Jewish themes
- Ginastera Danza del viejo boyero from Danzas argentinas
- Falla El paño moruno from Canciones populares españolas
The Noord Nederlands Orkest loves unconventional approaches, and Saint-Saëns' popular Second Piano Concerto fits in well with that. He immediately grabs the audience by having the soloist open the piece instead of the orchestra. Father Franck is not inferior to his colleague. With his remarkable, multifaceted compositions, he was a great figure in the symphony genre. On the piano, you will hear Daniel Kharitonov (1998), who won a whole series of prominent classical music prizes even before his tenth birthday. He now tours regularly with the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra. The musicians are conducted by James Judd, renowned for his successful collaboration and recordings with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
