Maria Milstein new artist in residence AVROTROS Friday Concert

The Russian-Dutch violinist Maria Milstein is artist in residence at the AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert this coming concert season. From refined chamber music to heroic solo concert, from classical piano trio to world premiere: the four concerts she has co-programmed give a good impression of her versatility. Milstein: "I dare not say what I am looking forward to most! I get to do the most amazing things."

The AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert puts the spotlight next season on a versatile violinist, winner of the Dutch Music Prize in 2018: Maria Milstein. She will solo in Ravel's Tzigane and play Max Bruch's First Violin Concerto with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Edo de Waart. She will also premiere a new violin concerto by the young composer Max Knigge. In chamber music concerts, she shines with her sister Nathalia and the Van Baerle Trio, with whom she has won various prizes for their recordings of Beethoven's piano trios.

Milstein: "These four concerts are a good reflection of how I like to shape my life as a musician. Solo concerts and chamber music inspire me and I take those experiences with me when I shift my focus. I am very much looking forward to being a guest in this concert series as an artist in residence!
