Johan Verheij

Johan Verheij is a trumpet player in the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He was born in 1959 in Gilze-Rijen and studied trumpet with Willem van der Vliet at the Utrecht Conservatoire. As a subsidiary subject he did HaFa conducting with Gerrit Fokkema. He graduated in 1988.

After graduating, Johan played in the Amsterdam Promenade Orkest. Since 1987 he has been associated with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He also works as a teacher of small brass instruments and as a conductor for various wind bands. In his spare time, Johan enjoys playing in a big band. He also rides horses and motorbikes.
