Freek Sluijs

Freek Sluijs is second bassoon player in the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He was born in 1959 in Vriezenveen and studied at the Sweelinck Conservatoire in Amsterdam. Here he obtained his diploma in 1984. His teachers were Henk de Wit, Joep Terwey, John Mostard and David Mings.
Freek substituted at the Residentie Orkest, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Ballet Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the Rotterdam Philharmonic and the Orchestra of the East. He also played for fifteen years in the Hexagon Ensemble (five wind players and a pianist).
Since 1986 Freek has been associated with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a member of the Amsterdam Mozart Players. Freek has made CD recordings with many of these orchestras and ensembles. He has also contributed to recordings by the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet, the Franciscus String Quartet and the Erard Ensemble.

At the Muziekcentrum van de Omroep, he also worked as a music producer on the release of various CDs of the broadcasting orchestras.
