Frank Brakkee

Frank Brakkee is second soloist in the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He was born in 1965 in Nijmegen and studied at the Utrecht Conservatoire. In 1992 he graduated cum laude as performing musician. His teachers were Nobuko Imai, Prunella Pacey, Ron Ephrat and Eli Goren. He also took master classes with Tabea Zimmermann, Isabelle van Keulen and Thomas Riebl, among others.

Frank worked as a substitute with the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. As a soloist he was a guest of Amsterdam Sinfonietta. He has also played a great deal of chamber music, as a guest with the Mondriaan Kwartet and the Doelen Kwartet, among others. Frank Brakkee was a member of the former Ensemble Amadé with Godelieve Schrama. He was a regular guest at the Raadhuis Concerts in Hilversum.

Frank has worked with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra since 1992. He also plays in the Franciscus Quartet and in the Nieuw Ensemble. Together with pianist Monique van de Ven, Frank can be heard on a CD with music by Shostakovich, Glazunov and Stravinsky. He has also recorded various CDs with the Franciscus Quartet and the Nieuw Ensemble. Frank likes to experiment with other instruments.
