Chloe Rooke
Chloe Rooke has been appointed assistant conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2022/2023 season. The Edo de Waart Assistant Conductorship has been awarded to Chloe Rooke for this appointment.
Chloe Rooke was awarded the Audience Prize at the Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition 2021 and attracted attention at the Malko Competition 2021. She is currently completing the two-year postgraduate course of the National Master Orchestra Conducting, where she was coached by Jac van Steen, Kenneth Montgomery, Ed Spanjaard and Antony Hermus. In November 2021 she assisted the latter with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in the NTR Saturday Matinee.
Future engagements include a family concert with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre in February and Cosi Fan Tutte in collaboration with the Dutch National Opera Academy and members of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in April. In May '22 she will take part in the final of the first International Conducting Competition Rotterdam, having been selected in the first round in June as one of the 'Six Designated Winners'.
For this appointment Chloe Rooke has been awarded the Edo de Waart Assistant Conductorship for the season 2022/2023. The Assistant Conductorship was dedicated by the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra to honorary conductor Edo de Waart on his 80th birthday in April 2021. He started the tradition of appointing assistant conductors when he was Chief Conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
Chloe Rooke will support Karina Canellakis, Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and various other conductors in productions of the NTR Saturday Matinee and the AVROTROS Friday Concert series.
