Bas Voorter

Bas Voorter is principal timpanist in the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He was born in 1977 in Roermond and studied at the Maastricht Academy of Music. 

In 2001, he obtained the performing musician diploma here. His teacher for percussion was Pieter Jansen, for timpani he was Werner Otten.
Bass was a substitute with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Gelders Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, among others. In 2002, he was appointed deputy percussionist with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, where he still works.
Since 2003, Bas has been associated with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Besides his two orchestras, Bas has a chamber music duo percussion-clarinet. He is also a member of the percussion group BAMP!
