Andrea van Harmelen

Andrea van Harmelen was born in Hilversum in 1976. She is deputy leader of the second violins of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Andrea studied at the Sweelinck Conservatoire in Amsterdam and the Utrecht Conservatoire. Her teachers were Valentin Zhuk, Viktor Liberman and Keiko Wataya.

During her studies, Andrea van Harmelen was leader of the second violins in the National Youth Orchestra and first violinist in the European Union Youth Orchestra. She also substituted with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam. Andrea has been with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra since 2002.
