Chief conductor Karina Canellakis conducts a programme of music by two female composers. The first work, D'un soir triste (Of a sad evening) was written by Lili Boulanger in 1918, shortly before her death at the age of 24. Her sister, the famous composition teacher Nadia Boulanger, put the work away until shortly before her death in 1979 because it was difficult to decipher. The Dutch composer Mathilde Wantenaar is present with a new commissioned work. Furthermore, the enchanting song cycle about love by Hector Berlioz and the resounding ecstasy of the Russian dreamer Alexander Skrjabin.
