Truls Mørk plays Shostakovich

Programme

  • Kortekaas Hommage à Stravinsky
  • National Youth Orchestra plays the Sacre
  • David Cavelius

The guest conductor Dima Slobodeniouk, who is familiar with the Friday Concert, will lead the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in early February in the Dutch premiere of Der Zorn Gottes by the Russian composer Sofia Gubaidoelina (1931), who is especially praised in the West. The Norwegian cellist Truls Mørk is soloist in the First Cello Concerto by Dmitri Shostakovich, a work with hidden expressions of criticism, disapproval and pain about the inhuman circumstances in which the composer and his country found themselves. Finally, a world of contrasts opens up in Rachmaninov's Third Symphony.
