Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Groot Omroepkoor 75 years!
Programme
- Schumann Ouvertüre, Scherzo und Finale
- Diepenbrock Suite Elektra
- Brahms Violin Concerto
This concert puts the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Radio Choir in the spotlight: it celebrates the splendour and the strength of both 75-year-old broadcasting ensembles.
Sergey Khachatryan plays Mendelssohn
In this anniversary concert, choir and orchestra shine their light on the French and German directions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The romantic lyricism and mastery of form of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto are in good hands with violinist Sergey Khachatryan, while soprano Liv Redpath and the Netherlands Radio Choir let the voluptuous religious language of enfant terrible Poulenc shine.
Wagemans writes for anniversary concert
Led by chief conductor Karina Canellakis, the orchestra explores the lush darkness of Lili Boulanger, who died too young. Peter-Jan Wagemans challenges the orchestra with pop and jazz influences. His Carnival of Shades could be realised thanks to a contribution from the Friends of the Matinee Foundation. A festive, richly varied anniversary concert that shows off the qualities of choir and orchestra to their best advantage.
