Netherlands Chamber Orchestra with Paul Meyer
Programme
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Overture Il rè pastore
- Carl Maria Von Weber Concertino for clarinet and orchestra
- Igor Stravinsky Concerto in D
- Carl Maria Von Weber First symphony
He was born in Schleswig-Holstein the son of a traveling musician. He was a cousin of Mozart's wife Constanze, grew up with operas by Haydn and Mozart and starred as one of the three boys in Mozart's Zauberflöte. After a hectic and wandering existence, he died a world-famous man in London: Carl Maria von Weber. In his Clarinet Concerto, he blends bravura and stillness and an affinity for wind instruments that he shared with his great idol Mozart. In Weber's First Symphony (1806), one can hear how fresh Mozart's La clemenza di Tito still sounded to his ears.
Unfortunately, Andreas Ottensamer had to cancel for this concert; he will be replaced by clarinetist Paul Meyer.
