A portrait of the versatility of the young Dutch mezzo-soprano Maria Warenberg. That's how this concert can be summarized. It is a journey through vocal music history beginning with the early classics Cimaroso and Haydn. Via Mozart and Wagner, the present day is also covered with a new work by composer and conductor Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg.
Maria Warenberg
In 2023, the young Dutch soprano Maria Warenberg scored highly in the leaden Queen Elizabeth Competition. She has since sung at the Opéra National de Paris and shone in the French capital in opera productions such as Bellini's Il Puritani and Janácek' s The Cunning Fox. Yet she will never abandon her other great love, the song.
Multitalented
The equally young conductor Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg is a remarkable multi-talent. The American graduated as a conductor in the Netherlands in 2024 with very good results. He is also a countertenor, pianist and composer. Today he conducts the world premiere of a new work of his own, with an important role for Warenberg's voice.
