Music lovers like nothing better: making lists of the best and the most beautiful. The NPO Classical Top 400, grown into a tradition in record time, guarantees numerous surprises. Who is at the top: Bach, Mozart, Fauré? Live in the Great Hall, this top music sounds even better.

Melancholic music
Pop fans do it with year-end lists the Top 2000 or the Snob 2000. But lovers of classical music can also indulge their critical acumen. In October, the NPO Classical Top 400 kicks off the list race. Bach's St. Matthew Passion is the undisputed No. 1 for now, closely followed by requiems by Mozart and Fauré. Melancholic music scores high anyway.

The best of the best
The diversity of the Top 400 list is impressive. Besides names like Beethoven and Mozart, there is also room for film composers like Morricone and Williams. Moreover, more and more contemporary works adorn the colorful list. Led by the acclaimed conducting talent Wilson Ng from Hong Kong, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra presents the best of the best from the Top 400.
