Winter concert with Amsterdam Sinfonietta
A winter concert by Amsterdam Sinfonietta is the start of your festive Christmas month. The concert includes Heiliger Dankgesang from Beethoven's String Quartet in A, op. 132. Beethoven had been very ill shortly before his writing process, and even feared death. The quartet is his 'thanksgiving' for his recovery. A heartfelt journey from darkness to light. Handel's song Eternal Source of Light Divine is also full of sparkling notes.
Persson, Hardenberger and Thompson
Sweden's Håkan Hardenberger will be soloing in a Baroque masterpiece. In his Trumpet Concerto in D , Telemann is strongly influenced by vocal music. His trumpet sings clearly but always warmly along with the string orchestra. Also from Sweden is soprano Miah Persson. She sings Bach's festive cantata Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, in which Hardenberger also plays a starring role. She will also perform three traditional Swedish Christmas carols. Amsterdam Sinfonietta is conducted by Candida Thompson.
