The festive season is traditionally characterised by solidarity and spirituality. Trumpet player Håkan Hardenberger and soprano Miah Persson bring the audience into sacred spheres with Beethoven and Bach. Persson is then the shining centrepiece in Eternal Source of Light Divine. The Domstad is an appropriate setting for this piece: Handel wrote the cantata in honour of the Treaty of Utrecht, among other things. After the dreamy, jazzy resting moment of A child is born, Amsterdam Sinfonietta closes festively with Swedish Christmas carols.
