Fragile melancholy
The label Bedroom Community specializes in atmospheric music. From Icelandic composer and producer Valgeir Sigurðsson, founder of Bedroom Community, the deeply melancholy works No nights dark enough and For love of her (do but kill me), fragile sung by Jodie Landau, who is a member of the pioneering American ensembles Roomful of Teeth and Wild Up, will be heard.
Virtuoso and dark percussion concert
Daníel Bjarnason and Edmund Finnis are also associated with Bedroom Community. Bjarnason's percussion concert Inferno, in which Dominique Vleeshouwers (under his stage name DOMNIQ) plays the solo part, is as virtuosic as it is dark, with an important role for the txalaparta, a Basque instrument made of wooden beams. Opposite Finnis' ethereal The air, turning is Esa-Pekka Salonen's explosive Gemini, which portrays the character of the mythical twins Castor and Pollux.
