Precluded by lockdown in the previous season, honorary conductor Edo de Waart is coming to conduct Richard Strauss' Eine Alpensinfonie. In it, the composer paints an eleven-hour mountain climb, from sunrise to sunset, including wandering paths, the euphoria of reaching the summit, the magnificent views and the inevitable storm on descent. Waterfalls, glaciers, singing forests, everything fills the room! In addition, songs by Franz Schubert in orchestrations by Max Reger, Anton Webern and others, and as a prelude Six adagios by "our" Willem Pijper.
