Cantata de Noël
Programme
- Joseph Haydn Schöpfungsmesse
- Arthur Honegger Une cantate de Noël
It promises to be a warm reunion on Christmas Eve. For then the former chief of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Markus Stenz, will return to his orchestra for a short while. Even better: he will also conduct the Netherlands Radio Choir, Wilma ten Wolde's renowned National Children's Choir and four soloists in an atmospheric, dedicated programme. First there is the magisterial penultimate mass that Joseph Haydn set down on paper in 1801, and which was given the nickname Schöpfungsmesse because of a quotation from the oratorio Die Schöpfung in the Agnus Dei. Finally, the beautiful Christmas cantata that Arthur Honegger wrote at the end of his life. A musical journey from darkness to light, with angelic voices and sounds of German, English and French Christmas carols.
