AVROTROS VIRTUOOS talents with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra

Young top talents in the spotlight. AVROTROS VIRTUOOS, AVROTROS’s talent development program, gives the classical stars of the future a well-deserved boost. Performing with a symphony orchestra is a dream for aspiring musicians. Tonight, that dream becomes a reality for violinist Hawijch Elders, cellist Stefano Bruno, and pianist Ivan Petrenko. They will tackle works by Bach, Saint-Saëns, and Shostakovich, among others.

” During the AVROTROS VIRTUOOS talent program, the red carpet is rolled out for the most promising classical musicians. They gain media exposure and work on their debut CD. Performing as a soloist with a major symphony orchestra is also part of the dream package. Tonight, three rising stars will take the stage with an orchestra for the first time as part of the program. Together with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, violinist Hawijch Elders, cellist Stefano Bruno, and pianist Ivan Petrenko will give it their all.

Talents from the Netherlands, Italy, and Ukraine
In 2025, Dutch violinist Hawijch Elders won first prize at the international Antonio Mormone Violin Competition. Accompanied by the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Elders will perform virtuoso violin pieces by Saint-Saëns and Tchaikovsky. Italian cellist Stefano Bruno has already made a name for himself at various cello competitions, including the Cello Biennale Amsterdam. He will perform Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’sCello Concerto in A. For his part, the young Ukrainian piano prodigy Ivan Petrenko will take on Shostakovich’sSecond Piano Concerto.
